Hot Dog Review: The Stand

Hecho en Arcadia. That’s exactly what you’ll find painted on the entrance wall of The Stand. A burger and taco shop in Arcadia off of 36th St. and Indian School. This amazing new eatery has both dine-in and drive-thru, making it easily accessible to feed those cravings for milkshakes after a night of girl talk. I’m not talking from experience or anything. But I will let you see for yourself the The Stand “stands” for. Their culture reads, “Just because fast food isn’t necessarily health food, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be the best quality, best tasting food you can get. At The Stand we strive to bring you the very best, from scratch food and beverages quickly and conveniently. We try our best to find ingredients that are locally grown, never frozen, hormone free, and a fresh and natural as possible. We have one freezer in out restaurant…it’s for ice cream…for the shakes! We don’t make fast food. We make good food…fast!”.

The Stand offers a selection of both burgers and tacos, and it’s hard to choose between the two. Let’s start with the classic burger. The Stand offers “The Standard” burger, which is 2 house-ground patties, crisp hand-leafed lettuce, fresh tomato, fresh sliced onion, crinkle cut dill pickles, and stand sauce. Then comes the fun part; the add-ons. You can add American cheese, Niman ranch bacon, butter grilled onions, grilled jalapenos, or even guacamole! Pair this colossal burger with some hand cut French fries, and you got yourself a meal.

Feeling spicy? Head for the taco selections, where you can find Short Rib Tacos, Chicken Tacos, and even Vegetable Tacos! All served on a warm corn tortilla and the freshest ingredients like onions, cabbage, cilantro, cojita cheese, and fresh seasonable vegetables. Pair these with some chips and guac, or even Mexican street corn (grilled corn with cojita cheese, chili powder, and cilantro!).

Needing something to wash this all down? That Stand has you covered. Try out one of their fresh squeezed lemonade, peach or regular, or try their house made horchata. They also have Mexican coke in a glass bottle, which is wayyyyyy better than Coca Cola classic, trust me on this one. But the best drinks they serve up here is their hand-spun shakes. There aren’t many thing I wouldn’t do for a Dulce de Leche shake. Salty. Sweet. Caramel coated cup full of heaven. They also offer a Chocolate ChIle shake, and a Tropical Banana shake.

Though their menu be but little, it is mighty! You can find this packed every day during lunch time with takeout orders for local businesses, or eat-in diners just looking for a quick and delicious meal. The staff is so friendly and greets everyone that walks in their door with a smile. Many of their employees are Arcadia High School students, which is great to see, and all around an amazing environment.

So, if you are looking for something quick, easy, or just down-right fast food done fresh and done right, look no further than The Stand!
