Homemade BBQ Sauce

Better than bottled BBQ Sauce, HANDS DOWN. I was preparing dinner for 6 people the other night at my house, and you can't have pulled pork sandwiches without some delicious BBQ sauce to top it off with. Of course I didn't check to see if there was any sauce in the fridge or pantry until about an hour and a half before it was dinner time. Instead of running back to the store in this 115 degree heat we have, I decided to gather up the ingredients to make my own right here at home. And you know what, it beat out ANY bottled sauce I have ever had.

BBQ Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 7 oz. can tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tsp. dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp. BBQ seasoning
  • 2 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 4 cups water
Start to heat a stock pot on the stove over medium high heat. Combine all of the ingredients minus the water in the stock pot. Whisk until combined. Slowly add the water, whisking continuously. Once the mixture comes to a boil, reduce to simmer, and let simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours. Occasionally stir throughout. Serve warm, or keep in air tight container in fridge for future use.
