Flaky Cheddar Biscuits

As a kid, my best friend's mom would always take us out for an afternoon treat at Red Lobster. And no, we were not elementary schoolgirls craving fish entrees...we wanted a basket of their cheddar biscuits. I decided to surprise my best friend and her husband, who also happen to be my neighbors, with a little blast from the past by baking them a batch of these biscuits. Flaky, buttery, and cheesy. Just one bite, and you'll be hooked.

Cheddar Biscuits

Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 cups Bisquick mix
  • 4 tbsp cold butter
  • 3/4 cup cold whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp dried parsley
  • Pinch of salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a large bowl mix together the Bisquick and cold butter. Mix with a pastry cutter or a knife, cutting the butter into the mix until you get pea sized chunks of butter. Add milk, cheese, and garlic powder. Mix with your hands. Drop 1/4 cup sizes of dough onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 15-17 minutes, until tops begin to brown.

Melt remaining butter, mix in garlic powder, parsley, and salt. Brush on tops of hot biscuits. Serve warm.
