NYE 2016 Weekend Recap

2016. What a beautiful year you are turning out to be already, and we're only a couple of days in! We spent NYE up in Payson with 10 of our closest friends, lounging around in a beautiful cabin. Being the foodies that I like to surround myself with, we roasted a 14 pound prime rib, twice-baked potatoes, and after being such a hit at Christmas, we brought our homemade salted caramel apple pie. But the part that everyone loves about NYE is the cocktails. Between the 12 of us, each couple had been given an alcohol to create a hand-crafted cocktail for the group. Andrew and I drew vodka, and created a Grapefruit and Rosemary Mule which I shared with you all last week.

Other couple crafted up drinks with sake, rum, champagne, and tequila. It was a night full of laughs, card games, and 3am bedtimes (haven't stayed up that late since college). Then against all of my NYE resolutions to be skinny for our wedding next month, I ate McDonalds french fries (not sorry about it one bit). The hangover was calling for them. The second night at the cabin was very relaxing and we hosted a build your own prime rib and shredded chicken tacos, followed by an intense game of King's cup and a much earlier bed time. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time, and was so thankful to ring in the most important year of our lives with some of my best friends!

2016 is sure to be a year for the record books. With our wedding just a few weeks away, as well as the weddings of some very dear friends throughout the rest of the year, it is sure to be a year filled with lots of love. Also a year filled with lots of delicious food. In April we will be spending 2 weeks in Italy for our honeymoon, and I am very much looking forward to eating my body weight in pasta, pizza, and gelato. Who knows what the rest of the year has in store for us, but as long as I have my best friend, soon to be husband, and recipe taste-tester by my side, I know that we will be able to conquer it all.

I always hate new years resolutions, because I am usually one that breaks it within the first month, but this year it is really important to me that I stay more focused on the present and living in the moment, seeing as I am such a planner and high-stress personality. So with that being said you may see some changes around here. Maybe less posts, but with more meaning, more memories, and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. So once I have recovered from this weekend, I will raise a glass of wine to all of you internet friends, and cheers to the new year!!
